premise for feature film
Accomplished film producer/writer/director Alexander Ghali currently raising funding for independent film entitled Satellites. This project is an opportunity to unleash the full breadth of the glory and excitement of DJ/club culture to the mainstream American public, and, to an extent, the world, in a way that has never even been attempted on film. My intent is to make it a supremely insightful, exhilarating, erotic, provocative thrill-ride of the senses from the first frame to the last, with splendourous passion, fury, ecstacy, joy, depth/substance, and an emotional center that serves as the driving force for both the film and much of its gorgeous, thrusting soundtrack. I am aiming for both the widest possible audience as well as a domestic and international fan base of the Electronic Dance Music and DJ scene- whose market potential has never been fully exploited by Hollywood.
Set in the generally affluent/upper middle-class town of Satellite Beach, Florida, about students at Satellite High School, particularly centering on an outsider, Dean, who through a twist of fate almost accidentally becomes friends with the school's star basketball player, Billy, and his girlfriend, Kelly- and then by extension becomes acquainted with THEIR friends, especially as word spreads of his skills as a dance music DJ and drug supplier to keep their parties pumpin' all night. He furthermore widens his circle of acquaintances with the different cliques around the school by DJing at THEIR parties, being generally musically diverse though managing to keep his sets closer to his signature style by night’s end, and unwaveringly uniting the crowd in an intense universal vibe with spectacular light shows in perfect sync with the powerful music screaming through the speakers. But tensions arise and Dean's newfound popularity is threatened when he falls for Kelly- as she and Billy are a universally well-liked couple- and Kelly is torn between the two of them after all 3 become close when spending much time together, all leading up to an explosive finish.
